The Middle-DVD!


my friends, i couldn't be more delighted to be finally letting the cat out of the bag...the middleman dvd is now officially in production for a summer 2009 release!

produced by the good folk of shout! factory (the incredible episode-box artisans who created amazing sets for "freaks and geeks," "my so-called life" and MST3K) - the DVDs will be out in time for the san diego comic-con and will be chock-full of the kind of extra goodness you have come to expect from the middleteam...

This news has just made my day. I have their 10th anniversary Sports Night set, and am stupidly gleeful that such cool folks are in charge.

Shout Factory are awesome as I have their Yearbook Edition Freaks and Geeks set. Never seen a better box set than that. Congrats on this as too many great short lived shows haven't gotten the DVD treatment.

I have begun to spread the news. We already have a viewing party in the works for when it comes out. There will be costumes: Dress as your favorite character, villain or hero.

The plan is elegant in its simplicity.

I'm definitely excited, but I wonder if it would be possible to ensure that there will be closed captions or subtitles included on the DVD? Shout!Factory (and Rhino) has a long history of not including them on their DVD sets, and I'd hate for my husband to have to miss out on yet another set purchase because he can't understand them. We've already had to miss out on MST3K - I'd hate to not be able to buy this one as well. :(

This is awesome and totally makes my night! I want bloopers and table reads and general video of life behind the scenes and stores about the transition from graphic novel to TV...

The only disappointment is that as soon as I saw "summer 2009" I thought they might be out in time for my June birthday, but then I read "in time for the san diego comic-con," which means the end of July. But I don't care, because I'm getting Middleman on DVD!

Now all we need is season 2!
