what does one send the network that has everything? [Jul. 31st, 2008|11:58 am]

[Current Music |sammy davis jr. - "the candyman"]

so, in the last few weeks - especially in the wake of the announcement of our shortened season - people have been asking me what they should send ABC family to show their love of "the middleman"... you know, to gently tell them of your love of the show...but frankly, i'm stumped...

...i mean, there are so many iconic props for this show, so many images that convey what we're about - the mind reels at the thought of finding one that both conveys the names "the middleman" and "wendy watson"...

...truly, if there one one thing that could contain, with simple, iconic strokes, the names of these characters - what might it be?

what can i tell you, guys, no idea...and now i'm feeling kind of hungry.

Also, there is a feedback form on the website.

I keep having to train myself to read it as "Middleman/Wendy Watson" instead of "Mister Miracle/Wonder Woman"...

(we won't get into the part where half the time WW means West Wing on my LJ friends list as well)

Amazon link for peanut M&Ms

A good deal there, someone should set up a paypal and let people pool their money so the orders can be more substantial to ABCFamily..much like we did with the nuts to CBS for Jericho..

Javier...

You guys do an awesome job. I think the show absolutely rocks. But here's my problem... If I hadn't been told about this show by a friend of mine, I'd have never even known it existed. And that's a damn shame. It's the best show on TV right now.

Do you think that ABC could do something strange like... I dunno... ADVERTISE THE SHOW SO THAT PEOPLE KNOW IT'S ACTUALLY ON! I'll admit I'm no expert, but... people tend to not watch a show that they don't even know exists.

Anyway... keep up the good work, and I hope you keep this going for another 20 seasons.

MIDDLEMAN ROCKS!!!!!!!

(Link)

They cannot cancel the show. It simply can't be done. END OF STORY.
But yeah, I agree that the show needs more ad time. I was really depressed after Ep. 6 when they didn't show a clip from Ep. 7. I only watch ABC Family for three things, Whose Line?, Middleman, and Harry Potter movies.
Just watched the Ectoplasmic Panhellenic Investigation, (both times) and can I say that was one of the most freaking brilliant things I've ever seen. Dubbie and MM slugging it out. I laughed so hard I cried. Okay, now to write an angry email.

Re: MIDDLEMAN ROCKS!!!!!!!

(Link)

Just finished sending my email. Less angry than pleading and reasonable, but I'm hoping that repeated applications will have a cumulative effect (yes, I'm considering sending them multiple emails a day until they buckle and renew the show just to shut me up).

Ectopolasmic Panhellenic Investigation WAS brilliant, wasn't it. I seldom actually laugh out loud at anything i see on TV, but this show in general and that ep in particular were happy exceptions. Loved the Ghostbuster references. My only gripe is that we had the Middleman (at least his body) dancing on a table with his necktie wrapped around his forehead and he still had his shirt on and buttoned! I've been to enough frat-parties to know better and, frankly, I was looking forward to seeing MM sans his shirt. He could at least have been sitting in the changing room near the end in that yummy undershirt of his.

Ah, well. LOVED the fight between "MM" and Wendy. "Muscle memory, b!tch!" I had been so looking forward to watching Wendy clean the floor with MM's body; i wasn't anticipating an even match. Loved the frat student channeling the "ghosts", especially the Middleman himself. And MM being controlled by a burgeoning young mad scientist. I nearly wet myself when he delivered that line about "your boss's hunky body".

Brilliant and it gets better every ep. The PtB would be insane to cancel this. *sigh* This is why I hate finding a new show I love. Family's probably going to end up doing to the Middleman what Sci Fi did to the Dresden Files. Unless we can "convince" them not to. We could try the persuasive technique displayed by MM in the Pilot Episode Sanction with the hood of his car and the glass of milk. "That's some darn good cow-squirt!" *thud*

Address to send in M&Ms and postcards/letters

(Link)

Paul Lee
ABC Family
3800 Alameda Ave.
4th floor
Burbank, CA 91521

That is the address, straight from the belly of the beast..lol

Again those who cannot afford the M/Ms or whatever can send in postcards and letters. Keep the letters to one page and be POSITIVE and friendly to ABCFamily..

The postcards, if you have some from where you live send them in, the networks love putting names or pictures to their fans..

Tell ABCFamily that your watching and that you want more of the series..

Hitting enter on the feedback section of ABCFamily is OK but they love seeing an effort, either by the letters/postcards or the M/Ms.

I am sending in peanut M/Ms out of deference to the Jericho peanut campaign that I started..lol

Ever since I read the link from io9 I've been turning over this term in my head. I love it. I was just currious as to the background of the term. Who was involved? What was the topic? I've never come across a phrase that so beautifully defined it. Any how keep up the great work.

I just wanted to tell you that I love The Middleman. It is the one show for me that is "appointment television."

The cast is incredible (including the guest stars) and the dialog and pop culture references crack me up every time I watch it.

I will write to ABC Family to support the show. I hope it finds a bigger audience in repeats or on iTunes, and I'm hoping for many more seasons of the show.

I'm actually getting a perverse sense of humor out of writing a letter with a bag of candy to a network executive whom I otherwise would be expected to court as a client... Strange times indeed.

And as a big fan of MM peanuts, it's hard to part with the bag I purchased -- but it's for a very worthy cause...

This looks like a job for...

(Link)

...personalized M&Ms!

Eight characters per line, two lines per M&M, a max of two messages in a bag... hmm... Wendy Watson fits... so does Art Crawl! Middleman would have to become Middlman, but hey - the message is still clear!!

So very, very tempting. :)

I am so easily swayed. I am not real into sending food to networks to make a point but I found your post so damn charming that I went out tonight and bought a big bag of M&Ms. (The almond ones. They're the best.) Now I am queasy and overly alert from the sugar and I wish there was a new Middleman episode to calm me down.

It really is wonderful.

Thanks for all that you do both with the show itself and all the fan engagement. We appreciate it.

The Middleman will NOT be cancelled because of it's fan's devotion! I couldn't bare to see it leave! I love looking forward to a show every week, since I don't really have any other "new episodes" to look forward to of any other show. I will show my devotion by dressing up as a big blue M&M and dancing in front of the ABC Headquarters!...I mean, I'll try my best to send out the message! ;)

While I don't recommend that everybody try this, since it can be quite expensive, I decided to try a little bit of guerilla art. Seeing as how there is an advertisement on the ABC Family site for custom-printed M&Ms, I went ahead and placed an order to be delivered to Paul Lee of ABC Family in Burbank, California.

Messages can have eight characters on two lines, and this is what I chose:

SAVE THE
MDDLMAN!

ART
CRAWL!

Besides personal messages, you can also get the faces of people printed on the M&Ms, so I got a couple of jpegs of Matt and Natalie. Unfortunately, since I'm sending them directly to Paul Lee, I have absolutely no idea how well the printed images will turn out. Therefore, if word about these M&Ms should reach The Middleman production staff from the ABC Family corporate offices, I would appreciate hearing about the print quality of my M&M order.

Or, even better, the show gets renewed for another season, and The Middleman gang returns to the San Diego Comic-Con next year, not only in triumph, but also to a larger meeting room. Plus, some ABC Family marketing genius gets a raise for being struck by a bolt from out of the blue, having okayed the custom-printing of Official Middleman M&Ms to be given out as swag from the convention booth, and I'm somehow lucky enough to receive one of these aforementioned bags of M&Ms.

Long may The Middleman wave!

Maybe the Middleuniforms aroused suspicion

(Link)

Unfortunately, the M&M folks declined to print my order with pics of Natalie and Matt, which I can understand. We can't exactly have people getting bootleg Middleman M&Ms made, just so they can try to unload them on unsuspecting eBayers. Anyway, I've resubmitted my order so that it's a little less guerrilla art, with just my "Save the Mddlman!" and "Art Crawl!" messages, plus an ironic, personalized Get Well Soon greeting card. Sigh...
